Thariq, the Claude Code engineer known on X as @trq212, has announced that he has left Anthropic after more than a year working on the product.

In his October 24 post, he praised his colleagues, expressed continued belief in the company’s mission, and said he planned to take a break before pursuing something new. He did not identify his next role or give an exact departure date.

A departure ahead of a reported IPO

The announcement comes as Anthropic prepares for a possible public listing. Reuters reported on October 22 that the company was pursuing a mid-November IPO, with investor marketing expected during the week of November 9.

That schedule was attributed to people familiar with the matter and remained subject to change.

Thariq’s post did not connect his departure to the IPO. The timing provides context, rather than evidence about his motivations.

What it means for users

The post describes a personal transition and does not announce changes to Claude Code’s availability or roadmap.

For developers following his public explanations of the product, it marks a change in one familiar source of guidance. It does not, by itself, establish a change in the product’s direction.
